NWSD owner and shaper Scott Rowley was born in New Zealand and started travelling at 18 going from Australia, Fiji, Tavarua, Samoas, and back to New Zealand. He spent time with a shaper and learned how to build his own boards. In 1987 during a brief visit to the Pacific Northwest he fell in love with the area and the waves it had to offer. In 1990 he immigrated to the US and 2 years later NW Surf Design was born..
In the last 35 years Scott Rowley has learned to build all kinds of boards - shortboards, guns, retro fish, singles, quads, tow, performance and classic longboards, pugs, pods, blobs, and more...his boards are part of surf lore in the Pacific NW.
Beacuse of his high skill level, Northwest Surf Design Surfboards are able to offer traditional poly/poly construction and in limited quantities, poly/epoxy glassing and EPS/epoxy hand layup as well as a range of resin tints, pigments, acid swirls, and custom wood core fins.
