Wetsuit Gloves & Surfing Wetsuit Gloves
: Optimal Thermal Insulation: Our neoprene wetsuit gloves provide optimal thermal insulation, ensuring your hands stay warm in cold water conditions, while the flexible and durable neoprene material allows for enhanced dexterity and grip during water activities.
🧭 Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Wetsuit Gloves
🔹 1. Pick the Right Thickness
- 1.5-3mm gloves→ Best for warmer waters or summer surf.
- 3-5mm gloves→ A versatile choice for fall and spring in colder regions.
- 5-9mm gloves→ Maximum warmth for icy winter sessions in the Pacific Northwest or Great Lakes.
👉 Rule of thumb: Colder water = thicker neoprene.
- Thinner neoprene layer on palms → Better board feel and flexibility.
- Textured or Smoothskin Neoprene → Better grip on duck diving or thicker mm for rocky terrain (such as climbing in and out of barnacle covered rocks ect).
👉 If you’re surfing Oregon’s rocky coastline, go thicker.
🔹 2. Glove Styles: 5 Finger, Mitt, and Claw.
- 3 Finger Gloves or "Lobster Claws" → 3 Finger gloves are usually in the 6-9mm range of rubber thickness. Made for increased warmth in places such as the great lakes or upper northeast america.
- 5 finger gloves→ Most commonly used gloves for surfing in Oregon are 5 finger gloves that come in a range of 1 to 5mm thickness. The most common neoprene thickness in Oregon is the 3 and 5mm Gloves. Many, who prefer a lighter feel usually choose the 1.5 and 2mm gloves and the rest simply just dont wear them.
- Mitts → Tend to be the thicker of the lot, warm in the 6+7 mm range of thickness and primarily for the coldest of the cold and also for people who cant stand any kind of cold at all.
🔹 3. Fit and Comfort
A snug fit is key. Wetsuit gloves should feel tight without cutting off circulation. Loose gloves let water flush in and out, making your hands cold fast.
👉 Use our Wetsuit Gloves Size Guide to get your perfect fit.
🔹 5. Care Tips for Longer Life
- Rinse with fresh water after every surf.
- Dry in the shade — avoid direct sunlight.
- Store flat, not folded, to keep neoprene flexible.
✅ Pro Tip from Seaside Crew: Our staff surfs year-round in Oregon waters. For the coldest months, we recommend 2mm or 5mm gloves for the best warmth-to-performance balance.
